Women demonstrate against Kennedy Agyapong

A group of women embarked on a demonstration in Koforidua in the Eastern Region last Thursday to protest against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, for using unprintable words on the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Charlotte Osei.

The women, led by the Eastern Regional Women Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Evelyn Korang, described the comments made by the MP as distasteful and an affront to the dignity of women in the country.
She said the group would petition the Speaker of Parliament, Mr  Doe Adjaho, to call Mr Agyapong to order.
The women held placards some of which read, "MP apologise to women", #”NPP come out and condemn your MP”, "women must be respected", among other inscriptions.
The demonstrators, who paraded the principal streets of Koforidua, later converged on the forecourt of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, where a petition was presented to the Regional Minister, Miss Mavis Ama Frimpong, who commended the women for going about the demonstration peacefully.
She also condemned Mr Agyapong for his unfortunate comments.
