Kotoko descend on Liberty today

The Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman will bubble with action this afternoon as league title chasers, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, descend on Liberty Professionals with a mission to devour them in their topmost Week 24 fixture.

The match promises to be a fierce battle as both teams have been inconsistent at home after going in the first five matches of the second half without a win.

However, Kotoko, whose morale appears boosted by their controversial 1-0 win over Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday, will fight tooth and nail to, at least, pick a point to get their title chase ambitions on track.

Liberty will do battle this afternoon without top scorer Latif Atta Blessing who is yet to recover from an injury he suffered two weeks ago during their MTN FA Cup semi-final against Okwawu United. In his absence, Coach George Lamptey will rely on striker Bernard Arthur who has returned from injury.

The last time the two sides met, Kotoko ran away with the maximum three points after defeating their opponents 3-0 in Kumasi. They will, therefore, leave no stone unturned in their bid to repeat the dose in today’s encounter.

After surrendering the top spot to Wa All Stars last Sunday following their 3-0 loss to WAFA, Accra Hearts of Oak will attempt to turn their title dreams around when they host struggling Techiman City at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil and his charges need a win at all cost to appease their teeming fans who are skeptical about their title chances after losing the top position last weekend.

The Portuguese coach will be counting on the services of striker Cosmos Dauda, who has just been declared fit, together with midfield sensation Patrick Razak, Samudeen Ibrahim, Sam Yeboah, Musah Ibrahim, Robin Gnagne, Musah Inusah, Mustapha Essuman and Ashitey Ollenu to dispatch their opponents empty-handed.

League leaders, Wa All Stars, have a tough task against an aggressive Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Stadium which has been turned into a Waterloo for visiting clubs.

In the other fixtures today, Dreams FC welcome Ashantigold to the Dawu Stadium, New Edubiase host WAFA at Bekwai, Aduana Stars face Berekum Chelsea at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, while Bechem United engage Tema-based Inter Allies at the Nana Gyambour Park.

All the matches have been rescheduled for today by the Premier League Board (PLB) to enable football fans to troop to the Sekondi Stadium tomorrow to support Medeama SC as they host TP Mazembe in their crucial CAF Confederation Cup Group A match.
