Barry Dzadey won this year’s CAL Bank Limited Open Golf Championship at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra last Saturday after returning a net score of 70 in the men’s Group A.John Gedze, who grossed 71 net, finished second, while Geoff Coffie placed third with 72 net, beating Odoi Sowah on count-back.

Kizito: I’m done with Hearts

Accra Hearts of Oak striker Kwame Kizito says he has paid his dues at the club  it is time to move on to greater challenges in Sweden after his contract with the Phobians ran out at the end of the Ghana Premier League season.

Kizito is determined to leave as a free agent for a professional career with BK Hacken, but Hearts management are ready to release him only after the Swedish side pay his player’s training and development fees before obtaining the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to complete the transfer.

Dogboe took a brave decision to fight Juarez - Dogboe’s trainer

Paul Dogboe, father and trainer of undefeated super bantamweight boxer, Isaac Dogboe, has described his son's decision to challenge Mexican Caesar Juarez for the Interim WBO world title on January 6 as a brave one.

Paul noted that it was in the interest of his camp to fight the best if Isaac was to remain the best in his division, hence the interest in taking the opportunity while others chickened out.

Ghana's lightweight contender, Richard Oblitey Commey, is set to face a new opponent after his supposed IBF world title eliminator with Russia's Roman Andreev was called off.

Commey (25-2, 22 KOs) was expected to face off with Andreev (20-0, 14 KOs) in a lightweight title eliminator towards a mandatory challenge against title holder, Robert Easter Jr (20-0, 14KOs).

Okai Koi South Sports Competition held

Students and pupils of the Okai Koi South Sub-Metro of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have engaged in an inter-school sports competition.

The two-day contest, which was held jointly at the Kaneshie Kingsway School Park and the Kaneshie Awudome 3 Junior High School (JHS) Compound, involved boys and girls soccer, netball and volleyball.

The head coach of the Black Stars, James Kwasi Appiah, is to establish a €14.5 million Euros solar manufacturing factory in Ghana in collaboration with a German firm as his contribution to ensure efficient production of energy in the country.
