Appiah sure of qualification

Coach James Kwasi Appiah has commended the Black Stars B for their gallant performance against Burkina Faso last Saturday, promising to seal qualifiication to the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya on Sunday.

The Stars B drew 2-2 with Burkina Faso after taking the lead twice, giving them the edge in Sunday’s return leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Kotoko host Nea Salamina tomorrow

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will play host to Division One League side, NEA Salamina, in their outstanding MTN FA Cup quarter-final match at the Baba Yara Stadium tomorrow at 3 p.m.

The match was postponed as a result of Kotoko’s recent motor accident which rendered most of their players unfit to play the game a couple of weeks ago.

UMaT to host 10-km inter-university cross-country

University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, will be hosting the 22nd Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) inter-university cross-country competition in November, 2017.

The cross-country competition is one of the flagship programmes of GUSA. In this regard, a seven-member Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Assoc. Prof Michael Affam, has been inaugurated to see to the planning and successful hosting of the event.

Cristiano Ronaldo suspended for five games

Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for five games after he was sent off in Real Madrid's 3-1 win against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup first leg on Sunday.

He was given a one-match ban for being shown two yellow cards and a further four for pushing the referee in the back after he had been sent off.

Stars B will make it

Ghana’s Black Stars B are optimist they will overcome Burkina Faso and qualify for the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), despite playing to a tight 2-2 draw in the first leg in Ougadougou last Saturday.

Twice the Stars took the lead but allowed the Burkinabes to equalise to leave the decision to qualify on the second leg in Kumasi next week.

Ghana’s Black Stars B last Saturday held the Local Stallions of Burkina Faso to a 2-2 drawn game at the Stadé du 4 Aoùt in Ouagadougou in the first leg of their 2018 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.

Sadick Adams put Ghana ahead in the first half, converting a penalty kick awarded them after Abdoulaye Zongo was judged to have stopped a Winful Cobbinah free kick with the hand.

Sapholda Hockey League - Trustees, GRA & Reformers Ladies on rampage

Trustees, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Ladies and Reformers Ladies were merciless last Saturday when they went on rampage, devouring their respective opponents with wide margins to improve their lots on the Sapholda Hockey League played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.

While Trustees whitewashed Reformers 8-1 in the men’s division to maintain their second position on the league table with 25 points, women’s league leaders, GRA  maintained their position with an emphatic  8-0 victory over  Ark Ladies. Reformers Ladies also proved too strong for  Real Ambassadors Ladies as they defeated them 6-0  to improve their standing on the league table.
