Defending champions Everest Cricket Club lead the Greater Accra Cricket league table with four points after the Week Three matches were played last Sunday, at the Achimota Cricket Oval in Accra.

Everest are closely followed by Nsromma Titans with four points, the former leading with a NRR difference of 3.06 as compared to the Nsromma’s 1.54.

The football family has reacted with shock the death of one of Ghana’s top football administrators, Major (rtd) Yaw Ampene Larson, which occurred last Sunday.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), as well as Kumasi Asante Kotoko, have all expressed sadness at the death of the 77-year-old administrator, who one-time led Kotoko and the football clubs’ association.

Sports Minister: Accra Stadium renovation on hold

The proposed renovation of the Accra Stadium this month has been put on hold after pleas from stakeholders to allow the Ghana Premier League (GPL) season to end before the project begins.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, had earlier announced that a much-needed facelift of the massively corroded edifice would commence this June.

Black Stars team manager Stephen Appiah and two other sports personalities- powerlifter Charles Narh Teye and para-cyclist Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah-have been honoured at the 2017 Allianz Awards for using their careers to inspire young people.

Appiah, who led Ghana to two FIFA World Cups in 2006 and 2010, was honoured for using his grass- to grace story to inspire countless young people, and was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Teye and Ofosu Yeboah were honoured for similar feats despite being physically challenged, at the event held at the National Theatre in Accra.
