Kenyan man wins $2 million with $2 football bet

A lucky Kenyan man, Samuel Abisai has won more than $2million (£1.5m) for correctly predicting 17 football matches in a competition run by betting company SportPesa. The payout is set to be one of the biggest in Africa. 

A statement from SportPesa says its CEO Ronald Karauri called the winner who was already celebrating.

Muntari suspended for walking off pitch after suffering racist abuse

Sulley Ali Muntari has been suspended by the Italian Serie A's Disciplinary Commission for walking off the pitch during a match between Cagliari and Pescara on Sunday.

Not only has Muntari's yellow card not been rescinded, a one-match ban has been handed to the Ghanaian while Cagliari have avoided any punishment for the racist chants.

The United Nations' top human rights official hailed Pescara's Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari as an 'inspiration' on Monday for leaving the pitch in protest after the player said he was booked for complaining about racist chanting.

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein said FIFA needed to pay greater attention to the persistent problem of racism at games - and that his office had been in touch with soccer's governing body.

USA confirms friendly with Ghana on July 1

The United States national team will play Ghana on July 1 in East Hartford, Connecticut, to prepare for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Monday.

Former national handball captain and Founder of Town Council Line volleyball team, Patrick Norvor, has appealed to the state for a parcel of land to construct a multi-purpose sports complex to engage the youth in sporting activities as a form of sustenance and recreation.

Mr Norvor, who is also an ace volleyball player, needs an urgent help from the state and stakeholders in sports to help him acquire a free piece of land to construct the sporting facility out of his own resources.

The victory, Hearts second over Kotoko this year after a 1-0 win in the league would be a day to forget for Kotoko fans who braved the rains to watch the game and Annan, who was at fault for two of the goals.

I’ll make badminton vibrant and attractive — GBF president

The new president of the Ghana Badminton Federation (GBF), Mr Evans Yeboah, says he would intensify a drive to get more people to participate in the sport, organise regional and national badminton tournaments and make badminton a national pastime.

Kotoko eye Hearts revenge in President's Cup

Accra Hearts of Oak will be without head coach Frank Nuttall when they face rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the first leg of the ‘Ghana: 60 Years On’ President's Cup today at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Scot has already guided the Phobians to a 1-0 victory this season over the Porcupine Warriors, who were then coached by Croatian trainer Zdravko Logarusic in the league this season albeit a win secured through a controversial spot kick by Vincent Atingah's at the same venue.
