Champions League Results 2017: Qualified teams after Wednesday's quarter-finals

The semi-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League took shape on Wednesday after Juventus and AS Monaco defeated respective quarter-final opponents Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to advance in the competition.

Juve travelled to the Camp Nou and finished the work they started in Turin last week, drawing 0-0 to seal a 3-0 aggregate win, while Monaco trio Kylian Mbappe, Radamel Falcao and Valere Germain completed a 3-1 triumph.

FIFA orders Zamalek to pay $450,000 to former Ghana striker Junior Agogo

FIFA has ordered Egyptian giants Zamalek to pay their former Ghanaian striker Junior Agogo $450,000 over his long-standing unpaid wages.

The Cairo-based club has not paid all the 807,000 Euros owed the former Black Stars player after a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Serena Williams is apparently pregnant with her first child. The world No2 posted a photo of herself in a swimsuit revealing what appears to be a large baby bump with the caption ‘20 weeks’ on Wednesday.

Williams, 35, announced she was engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December. The announcement left the sport’s chattering class wondering to what degree she was looking ahead to life after tennis.

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, believes the wind of change that blew through the Confederation of African Football (CAF) was inevitable and that the change that has come provides a new lease of life for the game in Africa.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic Sports’ Rosalind K. Amoh, Mr Nyantakyi spoke on a wide range of issues – from his re-election to both CAF and FIFA, his chances of being a CAF vice president, and the fact that he would not seek re-election when his third term as GFA president expires in 2019.

He also spoke of his frustrations about not getting sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League and the need for Ghana to start preparations towards the hosting of the 2018 African Women’s Championship. Excerpts.

Pay Liberty or risk demotion - FIFA orders Mazembe

FIFA has directed DR Congo champions, TP Mazembe, to immediately pay over USD$12,000 (about GH¢50,000) solidarity contribution to Liberty Professionals and Saint Stars FC in respect of the transfer of Richard Kissi Boateng or risk being demoted to a lower division.

This followed the failure by TP Mazembe to act in accordance with a decision passed by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber judge on January 28, 2016.

GFA to appoint new General Secretary soon

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), says steps are being taken to fill the vacant position of General Secretary at the secretariat.

According to Mr Nyantakyi, the FA’s Executive Committee, the association’s appointing authority, has held discussions over the vacancy and in due time will confirm who the next administrative head of the association will be.

The Ghana@60 Planning Committee, in collaboration with Primeval Media Consult and FnB Media Consult, has begun the search for the best 22 players in the 60-year history of Ghana football.
