‘2015 Kempinski Race series’ set for Legon
The Ghana Triathlon Federation (GTF) is set to launch the second edition of the Kempinski Race Series at the University of Ghana, Legon on Sunday.
The event, sponsored by Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City and considered as one of the fastest growing sports in the world, brings together some of the biggest names in the hospitality business worldwide.
It is meant to popularise and promote triathlon in the country after the successful introduction of the sport early in March when the first competition was held in Accra.
Athletes in the ‘Kempinski race series’ are expected to compete in the 18.9km and the 5.6km races through some principal routes in Accra.
Speaking to Graphic Sports in an interview, the president of the Ghana Triathlon Federation, Bawah Fuseini, commended Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City for sponsoring the event, saying, it would sustain their developmental programmes.
“I also want to thank the University of Ghana, Legon, especially the Sports Directorate, for the immense help they have provided us since we started. We will still continue to collaborate with them and other stakeholders in the development of the sport,” he noted
For their part, the management of Kempinski expressed their excitement for collaborating with the GTF to organise the event .
