Achimota Golf Club to host PGA Captain’s Prize tournament for the first time

The Achimota Golf Club is set to host the third edition of the prestigious PGA Captain’s Prize Tournament, bringing together 50 professional golfers from various clubs across Ghana. 

The tournament, which honours the PGA Captain for his contributions to the sport, will take place from 12th to 14th March 2025, marking the first time that the Achimota Golf Club is hosting the event.

Speaking to the media at the Achimota Golf Club, John Mawuli Nyarko, the current PGA Captain, assured that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a successful three-day competition. 

He added that in addition to the professional golfers, amateur players from different clubs will also take part in the final day of the tournament, promising a highly competitive event, especially from the country’s leading professionals.

The leadership of the Achimota Golf Club expressed their commitment to supporting professional golfers, acknowledging their vital role in the development of the sport. 

In an interview, the club’s captain, Emmanuel Quarcoo, and Jan Vogel, who heads the club’s managerial department, emphasised the need for professional golfers to maintain focus and discipline throughout the competition. They further assured that the club would continue investing in professional golf, recognising its significance in shaping the future of the sport in Ghana.

Being the first PGA event of the year, organisers have secured sponsorship from Frencia, Mainland Hotel, MDV, Tang Palace Hotel, and Miccaso, among others. With strong support and heightened anticipation, the tournament is expected to deliver a thrilling and competitive showdown.
