Amoah’s strike earns Kotoko maximum points in GPL Matchday 7

Albert Amoah’s first-half goal earned Asante Kotoko a vital 1-0 win over defending champions, FC Samartex, at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi yesterday.

The win pushes Kotoko to the second position on the Ghana Premier League table, with a game in hand, as they continue their solid run at their temporary home ground.

Kotoko controlled the game from start to finish, dictating possession and outplaying a struggling FC Samartex side. Although the visitors managed four attempts, they failed to hit the target, offering little threat to Kotoko’s well-organised defence.

Amoah capitalised on a defensive lapse in the 31st minute, calmly slotting the ball into the net after FC Samartex defenders failed to clear a rebound. His goal proved decisive as Kotoko’s dominance ensured there were no opportunities for the champions to mount a comeback.

The win marked Kotoko’s third consecutive triumph at the Len Clay Stadium, where they remain unbeaten in four matches this season.

The Porcupine Warriors are now firmly back in the title race, with the chance to move to the top of the table if they secure victory in their midweek clash against Legon Cities.

Meanwhile, FC Samartex’s struggles in their title defence deepened with another disappointing performance in their first loss of the season.

Unable to muster a meaningful challenge, they will need to regroup before facing Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture.
