Arteta eyes attacking reinforcements as Arsenal target league glory

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been tasked with strengthening the club’s attack during the current transfer window.

The Gunners have already been active, securing the signatures of Spanish midfielder Martín Zubimendi and Danish international Christian Thers Nørgaard, following the departure of Thomas Partey, who left the club as a free agent.

Initial rumours linked Arsenal with a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes.

However, interest in the Brazilian appears to have cooled. Rodrygo is reportedly seeking assurances over playing time after feeling overshadowed by Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior at Madrid. He did not start in any of Brazil’s last five games at the World Cup.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported the imminent arrival of Noni Madueke for £50 million, adding depth and dynamism to Arsenal’s flanks. The club is also monitoring Eberechi Eze as another option on the wings, amid concerns over Gabriel Martinelli’s recent form.

Arsenal’s previous campaign showed promise, with standout performances including a historic 3–0 victory over Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, followed by another win at the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, calls have grown louder for the club to sign a recognised striker. While Mikel Merino has impressed in a false nine role, scoring crucial goals, Arsenal are keen to secure a traditional frontman.

Top of their wishlist is Viktor Gyökeres, who has confirmed his departure from Sporting Lisbon and is seeking a new challenge. The Swedish international dominated the Primeira Liga and is widely regarded as one of the most potent strikers in Europe. Should Arsenal complete the signing, they could emerge as firm favourites to win the Premier League title.

Elsewhere in the league, rivals have made key additions. Manchester City have acquired exciting attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon and versatile midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. Liverpool, meanwhile, have completed the high-profile signings of Bayer Leverkusen stars Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. Frimpong is expected to fill the void left by fan favourite Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Arsenal’s youth talent is also attracting attention. Youngster Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri, an England U21 international, has reportedly drawn interest from Chelsea, with his contract talks currently stalled. Nwaneri impressed during Arsenal’s Champions League campaign, netting nine goals in 37 appearances.

In contrast, Myles Lewis-Skelly has committed his future to the club by signing an improved long-term contract. With time still left in the window, Arsenal are focused on building a cohesive squad capable of competing on all fronts next season.
