Eto'o re-elected Cameroon Football President

Four-time African Player of the Year Samuel Eto'o has been re-elected as president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

Running unopposed, the 44-year-old football icon secured 85 out of 87 votes from members of FECAFOOT’s General Assembly on Saturday, the federation announced.

Eto’o, who first assumed the presidency in 2021, will now serve another four-year term, extending his mandate to 2029.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was among the first to congratulate him on his re-election.

Eto’o enjoyed a glittering playing career with clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea, winning numerous titles. He also helped Cameroon claim two Africa Cup of Nations trophies and an Olympic gold medal.

While widely celebrated as a player, Eto’o’s tenure as an administrator has been marked by debate and controversy.
