The in-form striker will lead Ghana's attack in the absence of injured record scorer Asamoah Gyan for the return leg after a 1-1 draw in Kumasi last Friday.

Yiadom scored in Ghana's last meeting with Congo in 2015 and will be hopeful of repeating his heroics.

The Black Stars much-changed line-up who are in search of their first win of the qualifying campaign also features winger Thomas Agyepong and fullback Lumor Agbenyenu.

Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful is expected to captain the team following the withdrawals of skipper Asamoah Gyan and his deputy Andre Ayew.

Ghana will also be without Swansea City forward Jordan Ayew who suffered food poisoning in the aftermath of last Friday's draw.

The Black Stars are having an abysmal qualifying campaign after three matches and no victory.

They are placed third in Group E with two points, behind leaders Uganda (seven points) and Egypt (six points) while their opponents Congo have one point at the bottom of the table.

Ghana starting line-up to face Congo today: Richard  Ofori, Harrison Afful, Lumor Agbenyenu, Daniel Amartey, Jonathan Mensah, Afriyie Acquah, Chistian Atsu, Ebenezer Ofori, Richmond Boakye  Yiadom, Thomas Partey and Thomas Agyepong.
