The decision to postpone the two games was taken after the Football Association and the FA Cup Committee had accepted requests from Kotoko and Ashantigold to have their matches postponed since they had contributed six and five players respectively to the local Black Stars and Black Meteors.
In their letter to the GFA last Tuesday, Kotoko stated that their players: Emmanuel Asante, Abeiku Ainooson, Ahmed Adams and Michael Akuffo have been invited to the local Black Stars for the COSAFA Cup, while Eric Ofori Antwi and Dauda Mohammed are currently in the Black Meteors camp.
On their part, Ashantigold also stated in their letter dated May 20 that they had contributed four players: Fatau Dauda, Tijani Joshua, Bernard Morrison, Yakubu Mohammed to the Local Black Stars, while Lawrence Lartey is currently with the Black Meteors.
The GFA granted both requests in accordance with Article 13(4) which states that, "Where a club has contributed three (3) players or more to the National Team "A" or 5 or more players in any combination of the National Team 'A', U-23, U-20 or U-17 the club may request for postponement of this match and the postponed match shall be rescheduled by the GFA.
