The competition, which was organised under the auspices of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, saw children within the ages of 6 to 14 from the Greater Accra, Eastern and Central regions competing.

Sean Emmanuel won the Most Promising Male player award, while Lina Baroudi became the Best Female Player and Most Promising Player as well.

They took home trophies and medals for their feats in the competition.

In his closing remarks, the chairman of GARTA, DSP Simon Agbodeka, explained that subsequent annual championships of the association would include other categories such as seniors (adults) and juniors (teenagers).

He said the primary focus was to develop children first since that was an essential tool in the development of the sport.

The President of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), Mr Frederick Lartey Otu,  said he had been  overwhelmed by the talent exhibited by the athletes and reminded clubs and instructors to register their practitioners for proper data gathering and planning of the federation.

He added that his outfit had asked all regional associations to organise championships to keep their athletes in shape.
