Hearts avoid Kotoko in G6 draw

Local giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have been drawn in separate groups for this year’s G6 competition scheduled to start on November 13.

Defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko would open their title defense to the competition when they welcome MTN FA Cup champions, Bechem United to the Baba Yara Stadium in the open day of the competition.

Incidentally, it was the same side that denied the Porcupine Warriors progress in the MTN FA Cup last season having beaten Kotoko 3-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Perhaps this game appears to be the right time for the Garden City lads to exact revenge on Bechem United before the league season commences next month.

Similarly, Bechem coach, Manuel Zacharias, will hope to use this game to test all his newly-recruited players  as he prepares to embark on his first continental club campaign next season.

Arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak will also face an equally dicey duel as they face Aduana Stars, at the Sunyani Coronation Park on the same day.

The second day of the competition would see current league champions, Wa All Stars, face MTN FA Cup champions Bechem United Sunyani  in another cracking competition at Sunyani while Hearts of Oak will battle Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The game between defending champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and league champions, Wa All Stars is expected to draw attention as the two sides would try to prove a point after their league encounter ended 1-0 for the home team at Wa and Kumasi.

Medeama will also get the opportunity to take their pound of flesh from Aduana Stars following their back-to-back defeat in the premier league last season.
