Prof. J.K. Mintah — A target of Hearts

Hearts eye Prof. Mintah

Accra Hearts Oak, still haunted by a lingering coaching problem, have intensified their search for a new tactician with the searchlight said to be gradually narrowing down to Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.

The university don’s exploits with Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs some two seasons ago, got many clubs seeking his services, with Hearts being one of his strong admirers.

Indeed, in the past weeks, the Phobians have been scratching their heads in search of a new technical head since they mutually parted ways with veteran tactician, Herbert Addo, for non-performance.

Hearts officials have been tinkering with the prospects of signing a foreign coach, but a very reliable source told the Graphic Sports that the choice might fall on Mintah, currently the Black Stars team psychologist.

“We have been assured by the coach that he will this time around find the time to do full time coaching at least for a year.

“And he is, therefore, ready to take on the Hearts coaching job for at least next season”, he added.

Mintah nearly clinched the deal to handle Hearts last season, but failed to secure his release from his current employers, the University of Cape Coast, a situation that compelled the Phobians to go in for Herbert Addo.

Indeed, according to Hearts sources, it was Professor Mintah who recommended Coach Mohammed Abugri as his assistant and who was eventually signed on by the Phobians and is now with their youth team, Auroras.
