Reiterating President John Mahama's call that some attention must be accorded the so-called lesser known sports in his State of the Nation address last month, Dr Ahmed gave the assurance that he was going to make himself available for all sporting activities.

The minister who spoke to the Daily Graphic said  "Like a successful farmer with a large farm, I will do my best to weed every sector, there are a lot of sport disciplines and we must provide their practitioners and administrators with the best resources and encouragement to succeed”.

"In my tenure so far I have been doing just that, a week ago I was on hand to welcome the national beach soccer team from Uganda, I was also present to watch their return-leg during which they emerged victorious. I also watched the rugby finals at Legon and on the same day went to see the Black Queens beat Zimbwabwe 2-1”

"If the Sports Ministry is able to raise some resources, it will be disbursed fairly among all the disciplines in order to encourage all our sportsmen and women,”he added.

Dr Ahmed who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, promised to work with officials of the ministry towards facilitating the passing of the Sports Bill.

"I am very passionate when it comes to the Sports Bill although I do not know which stage it is now but with the support of the staff of my ministry I will put in more effort towards tabling the bill in Parliament quickly." he  stated.
