Inter Allies hold Asante Kotoko

Tema-based Inter Allies yesterday held Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw in their First Capital Plus League encounter at the Tema park.

Indeed, Kotoko looked the more determined side and as early as the second minute succeeded in pushing a goal inside the net but the referee had already whistled for a foul. A decision Kotoko supporters fumed about in the stands.

Again in the 20th minute a deadly passing combination between Obed Owusu and Amed Toure saw the former powering the ball over the bar to the relief of the home side.

The highly physical battle between the two sides saw a barren first half. On resumption, Inter Allies lifted their play and on several occasions, the trio of Lord Ofosuhene, Sheriif Deo Mohammed and Mohammed Sulley mounted pressure on the visitors who succeeded in repelling all the attacks.

Head Coach of Asante Kotoko, David Duncan, spotting his usual light green polo shirt, conceded that the game was one in which few chances were created by both sides.

In his view the goal which was disallowed was a good goal. “It was a fair result though but I thought we had been hard done by the goal that was disallowed” he said.
