Ghana's Division Two side, Legionary Soccer Academy, made a strong impression at the 2024 Norway Cup, a prestigious tournament renowned as one of the world's largest for young footballers aged 10 to 19.

Representing the small town of Asebu Agyendam in the Central Region, the team was one of 103 male and female teams from across the globe that competed from July 27 to August 3.

Drawn into Group 15, the Ghanaians found themselves facing Norwegian sides Follebu FL, Baune SK, and Molde FK. Their campaign got off to a rocky start, suffering a 0-3 loss to Molde FK on July 29. Undeterred, Legionary Academy quickly regrouped, battling to a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Follebu FL the very next day.

Their resilience paid off when they secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Baune SK, propelling them to second place in the group with four points—just behind Molde FK, who won all their matches to top the group with nine points.

Advancing to the Round of 32, Legionary Academy delivered a standout performance, clinching a 4-1 victory against Sykkylven IL. However, their spirited journey came to an end in the Round of 16, where they were outclassed 1-4 by Ranheim IL, bringing their tournament run to a close.

The Ghanaians, who travelled to Norway with a 20-member squad of players and technical staff, were sponsored by Brighterway Travel and Tour Agency, owned by the club’s CEO, Bright John Nyarko.

Reflecting on their performance, Legionary Academy’s chief scout, Christian Mensah, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s display, emphasising the importance of the international exposure gained. He believes the experience will be invaluable in boosting the team's performance in the upcoming Division Two League.
