Marcus Rashford among 5 Manchester United players told to find new clubs
Manchester United are preparing for a busy transfer window after their worst-ever Premier League campaign. They finished 15th and suffered a defeat in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur on May 21.
Reports suggest Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia have been given permission to find new clubs.
Manchester United will miss European football for the first time since the 2014/15 campaign. Some of their highest-paid players are expected to leave.
Rashford last played for his boyhood club on December 15, 2024, and expressed his desire for a new challenge. He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa.
Garnacho appeared to criticise Amorim after their loss to Tottenham and was later told to find a new club.
Meanwhile, Sancho was forced to return to Old Trafford after a forgettable loan spell at Chelsea. Antony struggled to get into Amorim's team but shone for Real Betis on loan.
Tyrell Malacia's career has been plagued by injuries. He had an unsuccessful loan spell at PSV.
These players have been told they can join pre-season later this month.
Man United will begin pre-season on Monday, July 7, with most first-team players expected to return to training at Carrington ahead of their first pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm on July
After facing the Premier League newcomers, they will fly to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series friendlies.
They will face English top-flight sides West Ham in New Jersey (July 26), then play Bournemouth in Illinois (July 30), and finally, they face Everton in Georgia (August 3).
The 13-time Premier League champions will host Fiorentina on August 9 before opening their 2025/26 season against Arsenal on August 17.
The Red Devils will not be playing in Europe next season, meaning they will have to sell to buy.
Matheus Cunha is the only player they have signed so far. The Brazilian arrived from Wolves for $85.3 million (approximately KSh 11 billion).
They have been strongly linked with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo but a deal has not materialised.
Ruben Amorim is reportedly looking for a new goalkeeper, a midfielder, and a striker.
