Milo U-13 League begins today

Defending champions of the Milo U-13 Champions League, Bempong Methodist Primary School from the Eastern Region, will kick start their title  defence when they compete with regional teams in Zone 4 at the Mawuli Secondary School.

Selected schools from the Eastern, Greater Accra and Volta regions form Zone 4, and it is this zone that last year winners will be looking forward to qualifying from.

Other selected schools from the Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions will square off in Zone 1, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regional schools are grouped in Zone 2,  with schools within the Western and Central regions  competing in Zone 3.

In all, 48 schools from the various regions will be looking forward to win the trophy at stake.

Speaking at the launch, the icon of the competition, Stephen Appiah, assured to help unearth and nurture kids who have the potentials in football.

He said he would soon organise football clinics in parts of the country as his contribution in unearthing the potentials of the youth.

For his part, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, urged the citizenry to support capacity building of the youth to enable them acquire employable skills that would enhance accelerated national development.

The Head of Sales Operation at Nestle Ghana, Enyonam Baeta, said they were interested in taking sports to the doorstep of every basic education child in the country.
