At the launch of the campaign yesterday,  Mr Vanderpuye expressed his delight at the initiative of Lexis Bill, which he said he  hoped would become a regular feature that would be extended across the country to promote healthy lifestyle through fitness exercises.

He noted that if such fitness campaigns were encouraged, it would contribute in no small way to creating fitter and healthier people with the net effect of reducing medical bills.

Dr Entsua-Mensah of the Cardiothoracic Centre of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, said the “Walk with Lexis Bill” fitness campaign could not have come at a better time as lifestyle choices of Ghanaians had pushed obesity and diabetes to epidermic levels, necessitating improved dietary habits and vigorous regular exercises, particularly by adults.

The Marketing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ms Shirley Acquaah-Harrison, said the company partnered the campaign because it saw it as an extension of an activity the company already undertook in order to create a healthier society.

Bill announced that corporate bodies, including Joy FM, Toyota Ghana Limited, Graphic Sports, Awake purified water and sportswear brand PUMA had partnered him to undertake the monthly walk, which would begin on Saturday at the foot of the Aburi mountain.
