Ministry to develop schools sports

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Mahama  Ayariga,  says government is ready to collaborate with the Ghana Education Service (GES)  to unearth sports talents  for the country.

He said the government would improve the quality of infrastructure at the Junior High and Senior High levels to help promote and develop sports in the country.

‘In an attempt to achieve this cause, a committee would be formed with membership coming from the Sports Ministry and GES with the sole aim of reviewing the nature of grass roots sports and presenting a comprehensive programme for  development.

The committee will be made to review the state of infrastructure in the basic and senior high school sports and also develop a framework and programme for capacity building of physical education teachers, as well as developing a year-long programme for schools competition."
