The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, September 21, 2026, as Founder’s Day statutory public holiday.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak announced this in a notice issued on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Founder’s Day commemorates the birthday of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a leading figure in the country’s struggle for independence.
The observance of Founder’s Day on September 21 follows the passage of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days (Amendment) Bill, 2025, by Parliament.
