Olympics target Premier League title

Accra Great Olympics has set an ambitious plan to break their more than four-decade trophy drought this season by ensuring they win the Premier League.

According to the Chief Executive of the club, Oloboi Commodore, their ambition is to win the Premier League title this season and they are working to ensure  they avoid what befell them last season.

Olympics have gone more than four decades without the trophy but  Oloboi told the Graphic Sports in an interview last Friday that the wait was over and this year would be their season.

“Our target is the ultimate for this season and we are confident we are going to win it”, he said.

He explained that the club was doing everything possible to achieve the ambition and they were putting things right so that the team become very formidable to compete for the league title this season.

“We are making sure that what happened to us last season will not befall us again. Our plans are that we are looking at the technical and the strength of the team”, the CEO stated.

He said they have completed the signing of a new coach and some players but admitted that they were not enough and they were hoping to beef up with more players when the next transfer window opens.

“We have already signed a new coach and some players but we are still going to sign some players again. We have already identified some of the players we are aiming at signing and they are all in the Premier League”, he said.

He said they have already started negotiation with some of the players they have identified and was very sure they could join them to beef up the squad as they seek to win the title.

Olympics have won the Premier League twice in 1970 and 1974 and since then, they have never won the trophy but the CEO believes this year they would break that title drought.
