Port City FC secure Ghana Premier League ticket

Port City FC have stormed into the Ghana Premier League for the 2026–27 season, sealing promotion in emphatic fashion after a dominant campaign in Zone Three of the Access Bank Division One League.

The newly crowned champions wrapped up the title with four matches left , underlining their superiority with a commanding 15-point lead at the summit after Matchday 26.

Sitting on 61 points, Port City have left their closest challengers, Semper Fi FC, trailing on 46 — an unbridgeable gap with only 12 points remaining.

It has been a season defined by relentless consistency and competitive edge. Port City have racked up an impressive 18 wins, seven draws and just a single defeat, a record that reflects both their attacking efficiency and defensive solidity.

Even under pressure from ambitious sides such as Attram De Visser FC and Semper Fi, they maintained composure and control to pull clear of the pack.

Their triumph also carries a strong sense of redemption. Just a season ago, Port City fell agonisingly short, finishing second behind Hohoe United and missing out on promotion.

This time, however, they responded positively, turning disappointment into dominance and securing their top-flight status with games to spare.

In doing so, Port City become the first club to clinch promotion from the Division One League this season, setting the benchmark as attention shifts to the remaining zones where the race for Premier League places intensifies.

Elsewhere, Tamale City FC have taken a significant step towards a top-flight return after booking their place in the 2025–26 Division One League playoffs.

The former Premier League side topped Zone One A with two matches to spare, edging out fierce rivals Real Tamale United in a closely-fought contest.

Tamale City’s campaign has been equally impressive, yielding 54 points from 15 wins, nine draws and just two defeats — a testament to their resilience and promotion pedigree.

They will now face Zone One B leaders, Debibi United, in a high-stakes playoff final, with a place in the Premier League hanging in the balance.
