Initially slated for September 29 last year, the start of the competition has been impeded by countless litigations with that of Techiman City and Wa Africa United as the most prominent.

Earlier Tema Youth had challenged the qualification of Dreams FC to the Premier League, claiming two of their players, Daniel Gonza and Cudjoe Mensah, were registered under dubious circumstances. The matter was dragged all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) which dismissed Youth’s claim.

The road has been cleared for the commencement of the league as Techiman City and Tema Youth, as well as Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, have all been confirmed to participate in the league.

And last Wednesday, the three joined the other 13 clubs to register their players as registration closed for the season.

A source close to the PLB told the Graphic Sports yesterday that the board would go into a validation period for the new players that have been registered by the various clubs before the kick-off.

“The FA deems the proccess last Wednesday as incomplete because it has to go through a validation process.

“From now until next week, we hope to conclude with the process to ensure that all the clubs have complied with the rules and submitted all documents regarding their registration”, he stated, warning that there was a possibility that some registration could be rejected.

“This time around the PLB will use internal IT process to screen the names instead of involving the clubs”, he disclosed.
