Ref. Modey suspended
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended referee Solomon Modey for six matches due to his poor handling of the Premier League game involving Sekondi Hasaacas and Accra Hearts of Oak at the Sekondi Sports Stadium at Essipon.
The game ended 1-1, but the GFA Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of the Match Review panel's report to suspend referee Modey for six matches.

The report observed that the referee lacked technical competence arising out of some decisions he took during the said game.
A GFA report signed by the acting general secretary of GFA, Emmanuel Gyimah, stated: “Referee Solomon Modey is hereby suspended for six matches with effect from the 11th week fixtures of the First Capital Plus Premier League.
“Referee Modey failed to show a player of Hearts the red card after the player had handled a goal bound ball on the goal-line of the penalty box even though a penalty was awarded against Hearts.
“The referee also failed to award a penalty to Hasaacas during the second half of the game when an attacker of Hasaacas was fouled by a Hearts defender in the penalty box,” it added.
Meanwhile, the GFA has also suspended assistant Referee Alex Anning for four matches for denying Medeama a perfect goal against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.
