Ter Stegen: Barcelona goalkeeper blasts 'false news' of his wife cheating amid split

Barcelona’s goalkeeper and captain, Marc-André ter Stegen, has strongly condemned media reports alleging that his wife, Daniela ter Stegen (née Jehle), was unfaithful, calling them outright falsehoods and a violation of personal rights.

The German shot-stopper, who recently announced his separation from Daniela after seven years of marriage, had requested privacy for his family, particularly their children, Ben and Tom. However, the couple has remained under intense media scrutiny, with reports from celebrity gossip programme ‘Que no surti d’aquí’ claiming that Daniela had an affair with her personal trainer.

On Monday, Ter Stegen took to Twitter/X to vehemently refute the allegations and criticise Catalunya Radio and 3Cat for spreading what he described as "false news." He also directly accused the programme’s hosts, Juliana Canet, Roger Carandell, and Marta Montaner, of being “liars.”

In his statement, he expressed deep disappointment in the media outlets for "poor management and lack of leadership and control," stressing that there was no third party involved in his separation and that the reports had caused irreparable damage to his wife’s reputation.

"There has not been any infidelity of Daniela. No third person involved. Fact," he wrote. "It is completely unacceptable that the leading government-owned media is spreading this, where Daniela is falsely accused and personally attacked."

Dear all,

I am shocked and disappointed of the poor management and lack of Leadership and Control at Catalunya Radio & 3Cat Group – distributing false news and violating personal rights.

Journalists Juliana Canet, Roger Carandell and Marta Montaner are liars that have distributed false news, offending my wife Daniela and her reputation publicly in a very bad manner.

There has not been any infidelity of Daniela. No third person involved. Fact.

As communicated, Dani and I have decided to go different ways in good circumstances where we maintain trustful communication.

It is completely unacceptable that the leading government owned media is spreading this, where Daniela being falsely accused and personally been attacked.

The damage is irreparable. Thank you.
