Tour du Ghana: Cycling meets culture in 12-day spectacle
The annual Tour du Ghana is set to take an exhilarating new turn this year as the nation gears up for 12 days of high-octane cycling, tourism and cultural celebration from November 13–24, 2025.
The 2025 edition, which was organised by the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), will blaze through the Volta, Oti, Greater Accra and Eastern regions, transforming scenic highways and countryside roads into a stage for grit, endurance and national pride.
The grand flag-off in Accra is expected to be performed by President John Dramani Mahama, signalling the start of what promises to be the most ambitious Tour yet.
A total of 72 cyclists from 12 clubs nationwide will test their limits across some of the country’s most demanding terrains, combining fierce competition with breathtaking views of Ghana’s natural beauty.
However, this year’s competition is about much more than sport. It aims to spotlight Ghana’s tourism potential under the vibrant banner of the
“Black Star Experience” — an initiative designed to celebrate the nation’s culture, diversity and spirit. From the lush greenery of the Volta Region and the hidden gems of the Oti Region to the historical allure of the Eastern Region and the urban pulse of Accra, the Tour du Ghana will showcase the country at its most captivating.
According to organisers, exciting prizes and regional stage wins would keep the adrenaline flowing throughout, while the event’s wider vision was to position Ghana as a hub for sports tourism in West Africa.
“This year’s Tour will be a spectacle that blends athletic excellence with Ghana’s cultural vibrancy,” an official of the Ghana Cycling Federation said, adding, “We’re not just promoting cycling; we’re promoting Ghana.”
