TP Mazembe to arrive Nov 20
A contingent of TP Mazembe players and officials are expected to arrive in Ghana next Thursday, November 20, to engage a local select side, "Dream Team", in a special Governance Cup match at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 22.
The 2015 African champions will be among the key celebrants of the annual Governance Weekend, under the auspices of Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government of Ghana.
A statement from Primeval Media, organisers of the match, said the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League trophy would be on display that day.
The DR Congo giants, who feature stars from other African countries, are expected to sell their unique brand of football to Ghanaian football fans after dominating the continent in recent times.
The main attraction will be the five Ghanaian players — Daniel Nii Adjei, Richard Kissi Boateng, Solomon Asante, Gladson Awako and Yaw Frimpong — and Tanzanian international Mbwana Samatta, who played a key role in the team’s continental success.
TP Mazembe defeated USM Algiers of Algeria in the finals of the CAF Champions league on a 4-2 aggregate to win the trophy last Sunday.
