
Vincent Torgah triumphs in PGA Captain’s Prize Tournament at Achimota
Sensational Ghanaian professional golfer, Vincent Torgah, showcased resilience and skill to emerge victorious in the PGA Captain’s Prize Tournament held at the Achimota Golf Club.
Despite a shaky start in the first professional competition of the year, Torgah rediscovered his fine form on the second day, finishing with an impressive total score.
He played 69 on the first day, followed it up with 74, and sealed victory with a final round of 66, securing the tournament’s trophy and cash prize.
Speaking after the short presentation ceremony at Achimota Golf Club, Vincent Torgah expressed his gratitude to the tournament captain, sponsors, and organising committee, noting that the three-day competition would help shape professional golfers ahead of upcoming tournaments.
Achimota-based professional golfer Alfred Kwame secured the second spot, delivering brilliant strokes on the final day, while E.K. Osei finished third, earning a cash prize.
Senior Pros and Ladies’ category
In the Senior Professional Category, veteran golfer Emos Korblah claimed the first spot, overcoming Dawuda Mahama, who finished second, and Stephen Klah, who placed third.
In the Ladies' Division, Viviane Kouame emerged as the winner, with Mercy Werner and Jessica Bearls Tei securing the second and third positions, respectively.
Amateur category results
The amateur segment of the competition also saw outstanding performances:
Jan Vogel and Helen Appah triumphed in the Senior Category.
Hajia Zenabu Sulemana claimed first place in the Ladies’ Group B Division, ahead of Juliet Darkwah and Charity Vogel.
Toni JC Bakawa outplayed Kevin Amedoh and Kojo Acheampong to win the Men’s Group B Event.
In Ladies’ Group A, Phindo Mohlala, Pamela Ewoenam Atila, and Letitia Amponsah-Mensah took the top three spots.
Patrick Mensah secured victory in the Men’s Amateur Trophy Event with a net score of 68, finishing ahead of Solomon Allotey and Percival Amponsah.

The competition received sponsorship from Tang Hang Hotel, Frencia, Micasso, Mainland Hotel, MDV, and other corporate entities.
Speaking after the tournament, PGA Captain John Mawuli Nyarko expressed his excitement over the success of the event. He commended the golfers, sponsors, and organisers, urging professional golfers to remain disciplined, maintain their training routines, and prepare for the upcoming Giti Tyres President Putter Golf Championship, set to take place at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono.
