We want to stay at club — Opoku Nti

The overseer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Samuel Opoku Nti, is currently awaiting a response from the club’s Board of Directors to determine his fate after replying to an earlier letter regarding his status.

The Kotoko board, chaired by Paul Adu-Gyamfi, recently wrote to Opoku Nti to notify him of the expiration of his three-year term as the General Manager of the club on June 30, 2016.
Four days after that deadline, Opoku Nti told the Graphic Sports yesterday that he had accordingly responded to the letter indicating his willingness to continue with the top job until the board determines otherwise.
“I’ve replied the letter and I stated that me and my management team want to continue in office until further notice just as the Board requested,” he disclosed.
He explained that his response was directly in line with the Board’s request as to whether he wanted to quit or continue with the job ‘until further notice’.
He said he and his management team were still bent on achieving their target this season and, therefore, hoped to get the nod from the board to enable them to focus on the task ahead.
He further indicated that, per the letter from the Board, his status had changed from a substantive General Manager to ‘Overseer’ perhaps due to the expiration of his previous term.
The Board was, however, silent on how the club would be financed in the interim until a new management was put in place.
Meanwhile, the three-year tenure of the Board also expires at the end of next month.
