At 34, Federer is the oldest man to reach the semifinals at the All England Club since 39-year-old Ken Rosewall was runner-up in 1974. Federer will play Milos Raonic in the semifinals on Friday.

His opponent, Raonic beat Sam Querrey in four sets Thursday to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the second time and make it to the final four at a Grand Slam for the third time.

The sixth-seeded Canadian lost serve only once and downed the No. 28-seeded Querrey 6-4, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 on No. 1 Court.

Querrey had knocked out No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the third round on Saturday, but came up short in his bid to become the first American to make it to the semifinals of a Grand Slam since Andy Roddick reached the final four at Wimbledon in 2009.

Raonic, who has added John McEnroe to his coaching team this year lost to Federer in straight sets in the 2014 semifinals at the All England Club.
