Betway has reiterated its commitment to promoting safe and responsible betting practices as the company intensifies its “Bet the Responsible Way” campaign during Responsible Gambling Month.
The initiative, which runs throughout November, seeks to encourage players across Africa to adopt healthier and more informed gaming habits amid the rapid rise of sports betting on the continent.
The company said the campaign is aimed at urging customers to reflect on their behaviour and embrace a balanced approach that prioritises well-being over excessive gambling. Central to this message are four behavioural principles that Betway is amplifying this month: avoiding the urge to chase losses, taking regular breaks, setting limits before betting and maintaining full control over one’s decisions.
Betway explained that chasing losses can trap bettors in a cycle of financial and emotional difficulty, while strategic breaks help maintain clarity and perspective. The company also emphasised the importance of planning ahead by fixing time and spending limits before placing wagers. It further reminded users that betting should be viewed purely as entertainment and not a solution to personal or financial challenges.
Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah, Country Manager (Marketing) at Betway in Ghana, said the brand’s approach is grounded in education and empowerment. “Responsible gambling is not just a message—it’s a movement,” he said. “We believe that by empowering our players with the right tools and knowledge; we can create a safer, more sustainable betting environment for everyone.”
Throughout November, Betway will undertake a range of awareness activities across its African markets, including online education drives, social media campaigns and community outreach engagements. The company said these interventions aim to spark open discussions about betting habits and provide players with resources to recognise and address risky behaviour.
Betway has also highlighted the support tools already integrated into its platform. These include deposit limits that allow players to control their spending, self-exclusion mechanisms for individuals who wish to restrict their betting activity and connections to professional support services for those who may need further assistance.
The company said Responsible Gambling Month is an opportunity for all stakeholders to reinforce safe betting practices and called on players to reflect on their choices. Betway noted that the broader goal is to build an environment where enjoyment does not compromise welfare and where informed choices guide every gaming experience.
“This Responsible Gambling Month, Betway invites all players to pause, reflect and Bet the Responsible Way,” the company added.
