Chamber of Telecommunications launches 10th anniversary
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has launched a year-long series of activities to mark its 10th anniversary.
In his welcome address at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Dr. Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey said his outfit as part of the activities would be engaging all stakeholders to drive Ghana's digital transformation agenda.

Some of the activities lined up include a stakeholder engagement in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation on a national digital policy as well as a 5G strategy to expand coverage of 4G across the entire country.
The theme for the anniversary is "Leveraging the gains of the past decade to accelerate Ghana's digital transformation".
Other activities
In an interview on the sidelines of the anniversary launch, Dr Ashigbey said the activities will begin on December 10, 2021, with a media dialogue in Accra.
He said the other anniversary activities would be focused on the impact of the telecommunications industry on government and governance, education, health and entertainment.
Dr Ashigbey added that his outfit would also dedicate a month to educating the public about fibre cuts and training 1,000 school children from the Oti, Eastern, Upper West, Upper East and North East regions on coding.
The official logo of the 10th-anniversary celebrations was unveiled by the Chairperson of the Chamber, Patricia Obo Nai.
Collaboration
In an address read on her behalf by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ms Ama Pomaa Boateng, said the theme for the anniversary aligns with the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to transform the economy using digital technology to achieve a self-reliant Ghana.
She also congratulated the efforts of the Chamber in helping the government to establish the Central Equipment Identity Management System which was used to set up the FCD.
"When I spoke at the Chamber Mobile Technology for Development Conference in April this year, I congratulated the Chamber for complementing the efforts of government which is establishing the Central Equipment Identity Management System by setting up the Fraud Control Dashboard to help eradicate fraud," the Minister said in an address read on her behalf by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ms Ama Pomaa Boateng.
"I am told that the FCD that was launched by Vice President Bawumia has blocked over 23,000 devices and blacklisted about the same number of ID's used by fraudsters. This is what we can achieve working together".
She also disclosed that the Chamber had partnered the Ministry on projects and initiatives including; the development of Ghana's Digital Policy, bridging the gender gap in technology, child online protection, cybersecurity awareness, the Ebola campaign as well as the COVID-19 fight.
