Eric Oduro Osae assumes role as CEO of Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana

The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has announced the appointment of Eric Oduro Osae, FCA, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, January 9, 2026. He succeeds Mr. Kwasi Agyemang, FCA, who retired from the position in November 2025.

In a notice to its members, the Institute described the new CEO as "a highly accomplished Chartered Accountant, Lawyer, Governance Expert, and Public Financial Management Specialist with over 25 years of distinguished professional and Public Sector experience." His background spans "Accounting, Auditing, Law, Corporate Governance, Public Finance, and institutional reform."

Eric Oduro Osae is a Fellow of the ICAG and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Director-General of Ghana's Internal Audit Agency (IAA). He concurrently holds significant international roles, including serving as an Audit and Assurance Advisor to the United Nations as a Member of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC) of the UN General Assembly.

In 2024, his expertise was further recognised with an appointment by the United Nations as a "Governmental Expert on Anti-Corruption under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), contributing to country assessments of member states’ implementation of anti-corruption measures."

The academically distinguished professional holds a Doctorate in Political Economy and a Master of Laws, among other qualifications. He has "authored and presented over ninety (90) papers on Accounting, Auditing, Governance, Public Finance, and Development at local and international fora." He has also previously served the Institute "as an Examiner and Moderator in Public Sector Accounting and Finance."

In its announcement, signed by The Council of the ICAG, the Institute called "on all stakeholders including members, staff, students, regulators, employers, developers, partners, the media and the general public to lend their full cooperation and support to the new Chief Executive Officer as he undertakes his mandate to further position ICAG as a leading Professional Accountancy Organisation in Ghana and beyond."

"The Institute looks forward to a productive and transformative tenure under the CEO’s leadership," the statement concluded.
