First National Bank entry into Ghana

First National Bank Ghana Limited opened its doors to the public in late 2015 and subsequently held its official launch on 31st March 2016.

The South African owned bank is part of the JSE listed FirstRand Group, which is one of the largest banking groups in Africa. While First National Bank (FNB) may be the oldest bank in South Africa and can trace its roots back to 1838, it is certainly one of the most innovative Banks in the world and has recently won numerous international awards for innovation. 

It is this spirit of innovation which will make the new Ghana operation a huge success. First National Bank Ghana Limited is the newest bank in the group, which also has fully established banks operating in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania and now Ghana. The Namibia and Botswana businesses are listed on their respective stock exchanges. The Group also has operations in India, operating as FRB India, as well as in Guernsey and closer to home RMB Nigeria operates as an Investment Bank in that country. 

First National Bank Ghana has already opened five modern branches in the Greater Accra Region and amongst other products, will also be launching automatic deposit taking devices shortly to facilitate banking needs across Accra. Once these are established, the bank intends to expand beyond Accra and ultimately have national representation in Ghana. First National Bank Ghana trades under the brand’s well-known rising African sun logo and Acacia tree with turquoise and amber colours.
