Five women-led tech firms get GH¢125,500 each under Futuremakers programme

Five Ghanaian women-led technology startups have each received GH¢125,500 in grant funding after completing a six-month business development programme designed to support innovation and entrepreneurship among women.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) after the graduation ceremony for the fifth cohort of the Futuremakers Women in Tech programme, held on October 15, 2025.

The Futuremakers Women in Tech initiative is jointly run by Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Ashesi University’s GCIC, and Village Capital.

According to the statement, ten entrepreneurs who completed the training pitched their businesses to a panel of judges from the technology industry, presenting digital solutions that address both local and global challenges.

The five businesses that received the grants are Wobil Technologies Ltd, GoGo Plus, WaxFarm, AgriEase, and Lbh Farm.

Ms Mansa Nettey, Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Plc, said empowering women entrepreneurs was important for building a stronger and more innovative economy.

“Our Women in Tech finalists have demonstrated remarkable grit, creativity and confidence,” Ms Nettey said. “Through their innovation and resilience, they have not only built impactful ideas but have also inspired us all.”

Ms Anne Sackey, Director for Marketing and Communications at the GCIC, said the programme was helping women entrepreneurs use technology to create practical solutions to everyday challenges.

The statement added that the event brought together investors, ecosystem leaders, alumni and partners, and featured a keynote address by Dr Amanobea Boateng, International Gender Consultant and founder of the Women’s DNA Fund.

An alumni network was launched during the ceremony to provide continued mentorship, guidance and networking opportunities for both past and current participants.

The Futuremakers Women in Tech programme seeks to reduce the gender gap in Ghana’s technology and entrepreneurship sector by equipping women with the skills, funding and support they need to grow sustainable businesses.
