Fredericka Doku wins Health Personality of the Year at Women’s Choice Awards Africa

Madam Fredericka Serwaa Doku, a registered dietitian and public health practitioner, has been named Health Personality of the Year at the 2025 Women’s Choice Awards Africa, earning continental recognition for her leadership in nutrition advocacy and women’s health.

Madam Doku, popularly known as “Finest-Dietitian,” received the honour for her sustained influence in promoting healthy lifestyles, improving public understanding of nutrition, and championing holistic wellness. Her career spans clinical nutrition, public health programme design and women’s health research, positioning her as one of Ghana’s leading voices in evidence-based dietary practice.

She currently serves as a Public Health Dietitian at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital under the Ghana Health Service, where she delivers therapeutic nutrition care, designs intervention programmes and contributes to population-wide health promotion efforts. Her academic work is anchored by an MPhil in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, with a focus on conditions affecting women and children, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, endometriosis, paediatric nutrition and metabolic disorders.

Beyond her clinical duties, she has become a prominent figure in health communication. She regularly hosts television health segments, leads community education campaigns and uses social media platforms to break down complex scientific concepts into practical guidance for the public. Her initiatives include establishing the PCOS Foundation in Ghana, developing digital nutrition tools for diabetes management, championing child-feeding education and driving women’s health awareness centred on fertility, mental health and lifestyle improvement.

The Women’s Choice Awards Africa, organised by Global Ovations, celebrates African women and organisations demonstrating exceptional leadership, innovation and social impact. Madam Doku’s recognition places her among the continent’s most influential health advocates working to strengthen public health through knowledge, empowerment and preventive care.
