GOIL extends diesel discounts across 200 outlets - Maintains GH¢9.99 for petrol at today’s pricing window

GOIL PLC has announced a further targeted pricing intervention, matching the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)-approved floor price of GH¢9.99 per litre for Petrol (PMS) and extending discounted diesel (AGO) prices across 200 selected GOIL outlets nationwide.

This means that although fuel prices are expected to go up marginally at the pricing window starting from today, GOIL has decided to exercise bravery to maintain the prices at the floor to the benefit of consumers.

With the announcement, petrol users will still buy the product at GH¢9.99 per litre and diesel at GH¢11.21 per litre across 200 outlets.

“This initiative is deliberately designed to protect vulnerable segments of society, particularly commercial drivers, public transport operators, farmers, traders, and low-income households, who are most affected by transport and food costs,” GOIL said in a statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Department.

GOIL explained that the selected outlets were strategically located along major transport corridors and near commercial vehicle terminals to ensure the benefits were felt where economic pressures were highest.

Context

The statement issued in Accra yesterday indicated that at a time when prevailing market indicators suggested that fuel prices should ordinarily be trending upwards, “GOIL’s decision to match the regulated floor price and discount diesel reflects its commitment to cushioning customers from cost pressures while remaining fully compliant with regulatory guidelines.”

It explained that credible price relief must be practical, transparent and deliverable, and that the company’s intervention demonstrated that meaningful reductions began with pricing at or below approved benchmarks, not merely public commentary.

“By aligning its prices with the NPA floor and extending further relief on diesel, GOIL continues to set the standard for responsible competition in the downstream petroleum sector,” the statement added.

It emphasised that the prices were being delivered without compromising fuel quality, adding that GOIL’s products continued to meet and exceed regulatory specifications.

GOIL PLC indicated that the products were enhanced with advanced performance additives, ensuring engine efficiency, durability, and superior value for money for customers.

The statement stressed that as Ghana’s indigenous and trusted national oil marketing company, GOIL remained committed to balancing commercial sustainability with socio-economic responsibility, especially during periods of economic adjustment.

“This intervention is expected to help stabilise transport fares, reduce the cost of moving food from farms to markets, and moderate prices for essential goods,” it added.

Take advantage

The company encouraged motorists and transport operators to take advantage of the reduced prices at the designated GOIL stations, as the company continued to deliver on its promise of quality, reliability and competitive pricing.

“GOIL PLC remains steadfast in its mission to provide ‘Good Energy’, that is affordable, dependable and impactful, to power Ghana’s growth and support the everyday lives of its people,” the statement said.
