We're not in a rush to seek legal redress: Individual Bondholders

Member of the individual bond holders Forum say they will seek legal redress at the appropriate time and when time calls for it so they are in no rush to injunct the ongoing debt exchange programme.

They stated that they need enough grounds to seek legal redress and won't rush to court without any solid ground.

In an ongoing virtual discussion via zoom, a leading member of the group, Mr Martin Kpebu noted that after meeting the sector Minister, they have the hope that they will be exempted from the exchange.

"Professor Stephen Adei was at the meeting with the Minister he wanted all but ten percent exempt of the individual bond holders but we want all individual bond holders exempted," he stated.

The convener Senyo Hosi who is currently taking his time to explain what the debt exchange means to member revealed that members will be at 77 percent loss after the programme and 88 percent less when adjusted for inflation.

He explained to members the debilitating effects of the Programme on individual bond holders.

Mr Hosi wondered why is only individual bond holders involved and not other Ghanaians who also benefited from the nation's tax and borrowing.
