But instead the 33-year-old is said to have rejected their advice to sign a prenuptial agreement. The Queen gave her formal consent on Thursday in a letter to the Privy Council and announced that she would attend her ‘most dearly beloved grandson’s’ ceremony later this year.

The first six people in line of the throne must have the Queen’s consent before they can marry, according to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013. The letter of approval came after Meghan made her first public appearance with the Queen at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey earlier this week. And the couple will invite 2,640 members of the public to Windsor Castle on their wedding day.
