Akosombo welcomes Miss Akwaaba Season 3 contestants

With its diversity of tourist and historical attractions, Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region charmed the remaining eight contestants in the ongoing Miss Akwaaba Season 3 pageant when they visited on Saturday, July 13.

The young women were there at the invitation of Volta Hotel and Dodi World, a company that offers a unique package of entertainment and educational activities on the banks of the Volta River. The visit was to help the contestants broaden their general outlook and to specifically enhance their knowledge about Ghana.

Miss Akwaaba is a culture and tourism reality show organised by Joe Osae’s Ceejay Multimedia, an event management, tourism promotion and media production outfit. Now in its third season, this year’s programme took off in mid-May with 17 contestants.

According to Joe Osae, a key aim of the Miss Akwaaba pageant is to groom young folks to adequately appreciate and effectively communicate the inherent goodness in our culture and tourism products.

“The Akosombo trip was a delightful learning process for the contestants,” said the Ceejay Multimedia CEO who accompanied them together with the show’s judges, some Ghana Tourism Authority representatives and other relevant aides.

“Our hosts did everything to make us comfortable and we are grateful to them for the fascinating and extremely useful experience.”

The contestants in a happy mood during the visit

One of the exciting moments during the Akosombo visit was the cruise on the MV Dodi Princess II pleasure boat, one of the multi-fold tourism facilities operated by Dodi World. With Captain Sey at the controls, it was a lively atmosphere aboard the boat with live music, dancing and tasty food.

“Volta Hotel and Dodi World offer eye-opening experiences in that part of Ghana. They bring a distinctive touch to our travel and leisure landscape.  I applaud their efforts,” Joe Osae stated.

The winner of Miss Akwaaba Season 3 will drive home a car. She will also receive a cash prize of GHC10,000.  The first runner-up gets a cash prize of GHC7,000  and the second runner-up receives  GHC5,000.  In addition, the three ladies will enjoy a weekend stay at the Volta Hotel, by courtesy of the hotel’s management and Dodi World.

Now in its 10th week, Miss Akwaaba Season 3 shows live every Sunday at 7.00pm on Ceejay TV and Akwaaba TV. There’s also a livestream on all its social media platforms. There are repeat broadcasts on Saturdays at 10.00pm on Adom TV and on Sundays at 3.00pm on Movement TV.

The final event of the pageant will be held on Sunday, August 11 at the National Theatre.
