Rising Ghanaian genre-bending artiste, Awudi, has been named Emerging Act of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards USA, marking a major milestone in her growing music career.
The award recognises Awudi, known in private life as Sena, for her creative versatility and growing presence in the music scene, where she has carved a niche by blending pop and R&B with elements of Afrobeats and influences from different cultures.
Her musical journey has seen her release songs including Cocoa Skin, SoundCloud, Useless, Blame and What U Mean, with each project showcasing a different side of her artistry and storytelling.
For Awudi, the recognition is a reward for the persistence, creative risks and hard work that have shaped her journey so far.
The award comes at an exciting point in her career as she prepares to release her next single, Rewind, following her project Out of the Blue. The new song is expected to usher in what she describes as the next era of AWUDI.
Rather than being confined to a single genre, Awudi has built her identity around allowing each song to dictate its own sound and direction. Her music combines sound, culture, storytelling and visual expression, reflecting her desire to create work that connects with audiences beyond Ghana.
Beyond her personal ambitions, Awudi hopes her music can serve as a bridge between cultures and create a space where listeners feel a sense of comfort, confidence, freedom and belonging.
Her Emerging Act of the Year win therefore comes not only as recognition of her progress but also as a significant step in a career she hopes will eventually take her music to a global audience.
