BBNaija housemates survive eviction, but get the third degree from Ebuka
A tumultuous time for the housemates ended in relief when all 22 in the Big Brother Naija 10/10 house were gifted another week on our screens. This was thanks to Head of House Rooboy, who nullified all nominations for week 5, saving the housemates.
But no eviction didn’t mean no drama for the live show. Host with the most, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, had plenty of burning questions for Biggie’s 10s – and two housemates couldn’t wait until the live eviction show was over to have it out.
As Ebuka said when the show started: “This evening, we’ve got a number of issues to dissect, the housemates have got gist to spill, and I’ve got questions to ask… And you guys think you’ve seen drama? Just wait, you’re about to witness something on this show tonight.”
Week 5 was themed Face Your Fears, with housemates opening up to Biggie about their biggest fears, from ducks and dogs to loneliness and disappointing others. While no housemate named Ebuka’s hot seat as a fear, they still had to face it come Sunday night – and it made for great TV.
Big Soso was asked about calling Dede derogatory names since Dede had a relationship outside of the house. “In that moment I was mad, and it was an inherited issue I had no business inside... However, I have apologised because I didn’t mean those words,” said Big Soso.
Speaking of anger, Mensan was asked about his outburst during the week with Ivatar, Joanna and Sultana. “I don’t want to talk much about it. I’ve already said a lot during my diary session with Big Brother – I think I just need to keep things to myself. But if Ivatar doesn’t take back her words, I will definitely not forgive her,” Mensan said, before threatening to reveal what Ivatar had been saying about other housemates behind their backs.
Well, it seems those words didn’t land well, as after an ad break, we returned to the house to find Ivatar and Mensan mid-confrontation – something that went on for the duration of the episode as other housemates watched on in equal parts frustration and amusement.
Isabella admitted to Ebuka that Kayikunmi’s eviction had affected her game, Rooboy said he missed talking to Thelma Lawson, Jason Jae said things with Sultana were “beautiful”, and Joanna referred to both Jason Jae and Faith as her “friends”.
This might have been a blow to Faith (voted this week’s Most Influential Player), who just earlier had gushed about Joanna to Ebuka: “I think she’s fascinating, a very brilliant woman, and also very beautiful. You should see her walk – she walks so well. I think she’s amazing. She’s one of the few people here I have really good conversations with.”
Kola was also asked about his remarks regarding Koyin (saying he talks like a child and doesn’t know how to express himself, even calling him a Chihuahua). He denied any malice, saying the Chihuahua comment in particular was “a joke” and a reference to him seeing Koyin as “a younger brother or younger person”. We wonder if Koyin bought it.
While the parties this week were lit and the arguments even fiercer, the housemates did lose the wager, which added to the tension in the BBNaija house. And now, as we face another week, we have to quote Ebuka as he asks the voting viewers: “Is your favourite safe?”
