BBMSA  is aimed at preparing young Ghanaian models with the requisite skills, and knowledge needed to succeed in the modelling industry.

The audition will be grouped in four zones. Upper East, Upper West and Tamale is the first zone. The second zone will be Kumasi and Sunyani while  Takoradi and Cape Coast would be  the third zone with  Accra, Koforidua and Volta Region as the last zone.

In an interview with Showbiz after the press launch at the Villa Monticello hotel last Saturday, Belinda who started her modelling profession in 1998 said she wanted to groom young ladies who had the passion for modelling.

“We have very pretty ladies in Ghana who wish to be models but do not have the platform to showcase it.  My company, B 2 Models,  is in to train such ladies,” she said.

Talking about what it takes to get into the competition, Belinda, who has modelled  for several companies, said interested ladies should be between the ages of 18 and  21 and be of average height of between 5. 9 to 5. 11.   The models should be able to read and write and also have looks of a model.

“The final 12 wannabe models selected from the four regions will be housed for six weeks after which a winner will be selected.  The show, which will be shown on local television, will have the ladies going through different tasks each week. The judges will evict who they think did not live up to expectation until one person is chosen as the winner,” she said.

She explained that the ultimate winner will be signed on for two years and also have the opportunity to travel all over the world with Belinda and enjoy the benefits that come with winning the competition. After choosing the winner in Ghana, Belinda will go to other African countries to hold similar auditions.

Belinda first came on the scene after winning Top Model of Afrique 1998 in Accra -Ghana at  a programme which took place at the Dubois Centre. She then went on to sign onto  a top New York agency, Q Model Management.
