Bessa Simons takes Osibisa to Legon

Keyboardist, producer and composer,  Bessa Simons will today, May 5, lead a seminar on successful branding in music at the Music Department of the University of Ghana, Legon. 

He would work with the Highlife Ensemble of the School of Performing Arts from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at the seminar dubbed, “Going Global with Your Music: The Osibisa Experience.”

Osibisa founding member and drummer, Sol Amarfio, would also be there to assist Bessa analyse and interpret the world-famous Afro-rock band’s music and share some of the experiences from their heydays. 

The seminar will climax with a free concert at the forecourt of the Department of Music of the school featuring the Bessa Band and the Legon Highlife Ensemble. 

Bessa, currently the First Vice President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and a member of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) Board of Directors, played for several years with Osibisa and still works on specific gigs with the band.

The “Going Global With Your Music: The Osibisa Experience” is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts with support from MUSIGA,  the Ghana Culture Forum and the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana.
