Black Sherif: I filed for two Grammy categories

Ghanaian music sensation, Black Sherif, has disclosed he submitted his work for the 66th Grammy Awards but didn't snag a nomination.

He filed for two categories: Best African Music Performance and Best Global Album. Speaking on Hitz FM, Black Sherif said he's not bothered by the snub, emphasizing his focus remains on his craft and connecting with fans.

“I would be very happy if they nominated me but e no even shift me as dem no nominated. I am not shaken, I am not touched,” he said.

Black Sherif believes Ghana's music industry is growing and will eventually earn global recognition.

Black Sherif's maiden album Iron Boy, released in April 3, 2025, has quickly become one of the most streamed Ghanaian songs of the year, with its popularity making him a favourite to win multiple awards at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

When asked, he expressed confidence about winning Artiste of the Year at 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

He emphasized that winning would be a validation for his fans, who've been supporting him throughout his journey.

“My fans will be happy. And the award, if I want it, I want it for the fans. It is a validation for them. My own validation is in the music I compose,” he said. (Read EDITOR’S LENS: Waking up from the Grammy Awards dream)

In 2023, the Sacrifice crooner won the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, becoming the second Ghanaian artiste to clinch the title after Sarkodie’s win in 2019.

Known for his emotionally resonant lyrics, viral anthems, and strong fan connection, Black Sherif’s rise has been meteoric.

His music, which often blends trap, highlife, and drill with raw storytelling, has struck a chord with a generation of listeners across continents.
